MCIA announces new Directors and strong EOFY report

Exciting News from the Medicinal Cannabis Industry Association

At the 8th Annual General Meeting of Medicinal Cannabis Industry Australia (MCIA) held yesterday, the finalization of the merger with the Emerging Therapeutics Association of Australia (ETAA) was announced. This impactful move welcomes Ean Alexander (CEO, Altum), Matt Cantelo (CEO, ANTG), and Geoff Cockerill (incoming CEO, Vitura) to the MCIA Board. The expanded team will convene early in the new year to revisit the organisation’s strategies and set priorities that amplify support for our members.

During the AGM, Peter Koetsier stepped down as Chair and Director of MCIA. We extend our deepest gratitude to Peter for his exceptional leadership. A new Chair will be elected at the next Board meeting.

With highlights like the ongoing success of the Acannabis event and the $250,000 ATMAC grant from the Australian Government, the past year has been a strong one for MCIA. The ATMAC grant underscores the Government’s recognition of our industry’s potential and future growth opportunities.

The 2023/24 financial and annual reports are now available on the MCIA website.

As a member-driven organization, MCIA remains committed to building a professional and credible medicinal cannabis industry, both at home and on the global stage. Members enjoy direct involvement in shaping the focus areas that matter most to them.

If you’re not yet part of the MCIA, now’s the time to join a trusted and influential association driving the future of medicinal cannabis in Australia. Membership options are available for licensed and broader industry stakeholders.

Together, let’s continue to champion legitimacy, credibility, and recognition for the Australian sector!
