MCIA Announces the Appointment of a New Board Member and Resignation of Founding Board Member

Medicinal Cannabis Industry Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of Kristin Viccars to the board of directors.

Kristin is the Interim Managing Director of MedReleaf Australia, part of Aurora Cannabis, one of the world’s leading medical cannabis companies. Kristin has over 15 years’ experience and proven success working in a diverse range of businesses and industries, both locally and abroad. He holds an Executive MBA from Bond University, a Graduate Diploma in Business Law from University of Sydney and various business courses earned from Harvard University. Kristin’s exceptional skill set complements and bolsters the current MCIA board’s skill set.

‘Having known Kristin for many years, appointing him to the COO role at MedReleaf Australia where his endeavours had an immediate impact, I am delighted that the MCIA has accepted him as my replacement on the Board of this critically important organisation at this challenging period in our industry’ Russell Harding, MCIA Founding Board Member said.

MCIA also announces that Russell Harding, former CEO of MedReleaf, having passed the baton to Kristin has resigned from the MCIA Board. Earlier this year, Russell, a founding MCIA Board member, built and sold one of Australia’s leading medical cannabis companies, connecting clinicians with patients nationwide, positively impacting thousands of lives.

‘The Board would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to Russell for his contribution to the MCIA over the past six years. The Board wishes Russell all the best as he focuses on the next stages.’ MCIA Chair Peter Koetsier said.

“I am honoured to be provided the opportunity to contribute to the growth and progress of the cannabis industry in Australia by joining the MCIA board and collaborating with this esteemed group. Thank you to the MCIA for welcoming me,” said Kristin Viccars, Interim Managing Director, MedReleaf Australia.

As the peak industry body, the Board of the MCIA continues to develop the relevant skills to best represent and support the continued growth of the industry. MCIA has recently called for nominations to expand the current Board of Directors and is underdoing the review process.

The Board looks forward to continuing to represent the mutual interests of members and stakeholders to build a professional industry based on legitimacy, credibility, and recognition of the Australian medicinal cannabis sector in domestic and international arenas.
